1. More listeria: Panera has issued a recall for cream cheese products from its stores after testing showed contamination with listeria, which is dangerous for pregnant women, young kids, the elderly and immune-compromised people.
2. Are you trippin’? It turns out that taking a vacation is good for you.
CNN reports that it’s not only good for your stress level, according to researchers, but good for your overall mental and physical health — just like visiting the doctor and dentist. (But a lot more fun for you and your family.)
3. Tainted toys: A research study at England’s University of Plymouth has found that hand-me-down toys carry a low price, but may have way too many risks to be worth it.
Among the worst are British toys dating back to the ’70s and ’80s, including old Lego, reports BBC.com. American safety rules are not identical, but often similar, so it is wise to pay extra attention to what toys your kids are using, especially if they put them in their mouths.
High levels of cadmium, lead, bromine, chromium, antimony, barium, and selenium were found in the old British toys.
The worst offenders were playthings made out of red, black or yellow plastic, according to the study.
